Race Information

The course, starting on the south side of Compo Beach, will wind around Cockenoe Island, go around Pecks Ledge Lighthouse, head south to Greens Ledge Lighthouse and come back along the same course to finish in front of Compo Beach (see chart). The race is approximately 14 miles. The race is open to all seaworthy human powered vessels. 

No rain date. All competitors will be required to sign waivers before being permitted to start the race. PFD's consistent with Coast Guard regulations are required for each competitor. Whistles or horns are required on each boat. Boats should have bailers,pumps or self-bailers. A backukp bailer is recommended.

Compasses,charts,gps units,cell phones etc. may be good to have also. You should have water and/or sports drink. Hats and sunscreen should be considered.

The process

  1. Please try to Register your entry online as early as possible. 
  2. Pay the entry fee online or send a check with the brochure entry form ($50 per each participant in your boat - you must pay before the race)
  3. Pay for extra people wanting to eat lunch etc. @ $20 each.
  4. Download and get all participants in your boat to sign the waiver (no waiver, no race)
  5. Check in at Compo Beach in Westport at 7:30-8:30 am.
    • Attend mandatory pre-race orientation at 8:30 am
    • Get the race course directions
    • Get your T-shirt 
    • Get Your Race Number
    • Confirm your entry
    • Confirm that we have your waivers
  6. Race to Win!
  7. Participate in the picnic on the beach (non-racers must pay $20/each to eat)
  8. Collect your medal (if you win)
  9. Brag to your friends...

Directions to the Race

  • Compo Beach is Exit 18 off I-95 in Westport, CT
  • I-95 South - end of ramp merges right. (continued below)
  • I-95 North - end of ramp go left.
    • At second light - go left onto Greensfarm Road. You will come to a 4-way stop, this is Hills Point Road. Go left at Hills Point Road and go all the way past the beach through a stopsign and at the Minuteman statue, go left. Proceed to the Beach Gate, go right into the park. Once inside the park follow directional signage and take the first right, go through the stop sign and proceed to the grassy area on left and park on the grass. This is the boat assembly area. There is a paved boat ramp nearby to launch larger  boats. Parking is free.
