Kayak Classes for 2009
The kayak class rules this year are the Sound Rowers/Blackburn Challenge rules. Many kayaks are referenced on the Blackburn List:
http://www.blackburnchallenge.com/kayak_class.html
Please consult these rules to see what class your kayak will be in. Class issues must be resolved before the day of the race. If you have questions after reviewing the links above to Sound Rowers and Blackburn rules, contact Michele Sorensen for rec and sea/touring kayaks (kayaks not designed primarily for racing) and Gary Williams for Fast Sea Kayaks (FSK) and High-performance Kayaks (HPK).
All kayaks must be able to float when swamped. If a kayak does not have bulkheads, floatbags must be used.
All kayakers must be capable of paddling proficiently and with confidence in 2-4' seas and wakes.
